Sharon Denise Moore (Ward) was born at General Hospital on September 5, 1967, the youngest of four, to Mildred Ward and Roy L. Ward Sr. She departed this life on February 19, 2024. She found her relationship with God at an early age and was baptized at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend A.L. Johnson Sr.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO, and graduated from Paseo Academy in 1985. She was very active during her school age years and was heavily involved in the JROTC community. It was also during this time that Sharon built lifelong friendships with Marquetta Smith and Yolanda Gibson.
Heading into early adulthood, Sharon loved to spend time with her young nieces and nephews. She was devoted to bringing happiness to all those around her. Shortly after graduating high school, Sharon gave birth to her only child in December 1987. She then dedicated herself to parenthood in every way possible.
In 1988, Sharon accepted a position with the Federal Government, working as a clerk for the Internal Revenue Service. During this period of her life, she met many lifelong friends and enjoyed travelling as a Union Steward. She retired from the I.R.S. in 2013, after 25 years of service.
Sharon was always known as a kindred spirit and someone who loved to celebrate. She would often host holiday and card parties for her friends and loved ones. Later in life, Sharon became a wonderful grandmother who had very active relationships with her grandchildren. She planned out and took family vacations annually with her family and loved to travel across the country.
Sharon is preceded in death by her grandparents Lenora Williams and David Draper, fathers Roy Ward Sr. and Rufus Murrell, uncle George Draper, aunt Josephine Walker, and brother Roy Ward Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her mother Mildred Murrell; son Derrik Ward (Robyn); brothers Anthony Draper (Sylvia), Roy Franklin (Jackie), and Reggie Franklin; sisters Sandra Draper, Vanessa Lee; grandchildren Leniah Ward, Malachi Mayo-Ward, Mateo Mayo-Ward, Micah Mayo-Ward, and Marquez Mayo-Ward; uncles Otha Ward(Lavern), Ivory(Jeanne); aunt Clovis Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
