Listen to Obituary

Sister Ada Mae Cleveland was born June 16, 1941, to Edward Ewing, Sr. and Angeline Stevenson in Elaine, AR. She was the 11th child of 14 siblings.

She attended school in Elaine, AR. Sister Ada met the love of her life Elder Robert Cleveland, Jr. and was united in Holy Matrimony on December 21, 1957 and to this union, they were blessed with 4 affectionate children.

Sister Ada accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized into the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth under the leadership of Elder Lee Henderson. Sister Ada and her husband moved from Elaine, AR to Chicago for better employment and settled in Robbins, IL. She was a homemaker to her family and worked as a homeroom Mom at her children school. She was a loving and devoted Mother.

In 1985 Sister Ada’s husband was asked to relocate to Kansas City, MO to become the Pastor over the Church. As she was a Virtuous woman of faith and without hesitation, she followed her husband. Sister Ada traveled many years with the church and fellowship with the saints. She served as an Usher for many years in the church working close with the National Usher Board. Sister Ada enjoyed feeding the homeless and buying socks, gloves and clothing to keep them warm in the winter months. She was a faithful worker in the church until her health began to fail.

Her favorite “song” (It’s Another Days Journey and I’m Glad About It.) On January 26, 2024 at Research Hospital, surrounded by her children and loved ones, God whispered, “take my hand my child and come with me”. Preceding her in death, her loving husband of 66 years Elder Robert Cleveland, Jr., her parents, Edward & Angeline Ewing and 9 brothers Eddie, Walter, Wille, Dan, Alonzo, Elm, Cleotha, Charles and Hurley Ewing.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two loving and devoted daughters Barbara (Carl) Johnson of Kansas City, MO; Angie (Edward) Shelton of Overland Park, KS; two devoted sons, Robert (Carrie) Cleveland of Ferrel View, MO; Elder Shawn (Crystal) Cleveland of Independence, MO; three loving sisters Lou Bertha Johnson, Lenolia Dennis, Pecolia Ewing all of Cleveland, OH. 17 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Alice (Lee) Washington of Jackson, AL; 1 special cousin Queen Spears of Oaklahoma City, OK; special son/daughter Elder Derrick (Patricia) Abbott of Austell, GA; 2 bonus daughters Tasha (LeAnthony) Harvey of Grandview, MO; Renee Huston of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a wonderful church family in Christ Jesus.
