Listen to Obituary

Adrian Cecile Wright, affectionately known as “Agie”, peacefully departed this earth, December 29,2020 in her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Adrian was born, October 2, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo to the union of Will & Evelyn Wright, jr. She grew up in Kansas City, Mo. attending school in the Kansas City, Missouri school system, and would later reside in Kansas City, Ks until her passing.

Agie accepted the Lord into her life at age 12, with the loving support of her sisters and cousins she was baptized at Mt Olive MBC., she then rededicated her life to Christ, Her Lord & Savior under the guidance of Dr. H. Earl Anderson, with whom she would often discuss her profound love of God, and all his Glory.

Adrian was a life- long student and an education enthusiast. She was a self-taught Mathematician, editing multiple math textbooks for local colleges, while tutoring those in need. Adrian believed in the power of education and sharing it with everyone she could. She would later obtain a license in Cosmetology and work alongside her sisters (Deborah and Karen) for a short time before moving onto a career with Farmer’s Insurance (Olathe, Ks) as an Insurance Specialist. During her health changes, she picked back up her love of knitting, which would lead to pattern design, and writing reviews for and about various yarn and needle companies globally.

Adrian will forever be remembered by her daughters; Verne’ (of the Home) and Janae (Kansas City, Mo); Grandchildren; Destiny and Dominick, Great-Grandson; Lloyd III, Special Grandson; Lloyd Jr., Nephew-son; Mark (Tiffany), Sister-Cousins; Donna Friday & Norma Godwin, best girl-friends; Christine Lasley (John) & Deborah Spencer.

Left to mourn her passing are five Sisters; Deborah Gilbert (Lenexa, Ks), Jerre’ Kelly (Overland Park, Ks), Karen “Bunny” Wright (Kansas City, KS), and Tracy Huntsman (Shawnee, Ks),are 1 surviving maternal aunt, Imogene Anderson (Dr. H. Earl Anderson; Chidester, AR), 3 paternal aunts, Pauline

McElwee (K.C. Mo), Bobbie Brantley (Long, Beach CA), Wanda Knight (Long Beach, CA). 12 nieces & nephews, a host of Grand/Great nieces & nephews, and an abundance of sister/brother cousins.

Agie’s testament of life was completely guided by Faith and consisted of many amazing “But God” moments in time. As time would go on and her physical health would change, it was her sharp mind, well timed wit, and unwavering faith that seemed to grow stronger daily. She never said, “Why me” instead “Why NOT me”.

Adrian is preceded in death by her parents; Will and Evelyn Wright Jr. and Vernon Eason, six nieces & nephews, three aunts, and several family members that were both, near and dear to her, including her sister/friend cousin, Pamela Thurman (Michael).
