Alene Williams, 98, passed away on April 23, 1923 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She was born on September 28, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, TX to John Gorman, Sr. and Nezzie Barrett.

She grew up Mt. Pleasant, TX and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. After high school she attended Texas A&M University.

On January 27, 1975, Alene was united marriage to Roscoe Williams, Sr. in Kansas City, KS.

Alene joined Second Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO under the pastorate of Dr. E.E. Chappelle. She was a faithful and dedicated member for many years. Alene had a kind heart and humble spirit. She loved the Lord, the church, and helping others. Alene was a member of the Celestial Choir, B. T. H. & H Club, Willing Workers Club, Ruth Circle, 90 Plus Ministry, Banquet Management, and Sunday School class #2, just to name a few. She also helped in other ministries and wherever she was needed. Alene loved to cook and bake. She baked delicious cakes and cookies from scratch for Homecoming Day, Church Anniversary, and numerous special events and celebrations.

Alene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roscoe Williams, Sr.; John Gorman, Jr.; Mildred Beason; Joseph Gorman; Snowbia Lindsey (Titta); Herbert Gorman; Lucille and Walter Harper;

Katherine Rutherford; Roscoe Williams, Jr.; JoLil Howard, and Charles Harrison.

Left to cherish the memories of Alene are her daughter, Wanda Williams; grandchildren, Daniu-el Williams, Sr., Jermaine Howard, Jan’Tel Howard, JaJuan Howard, Ebony Howard, and Rai’yana Howard; great-grandchildren, Jayson Howard, Daniu-el Williams, Jr., Amierre Howard, Cynisha Howard, Ja’Juan Howard, Jr., Brandon Reed, Destiny Holland, Matthew, and Ajianna Howard.

Alene was affectionately known by everyone as, “Big Mom”. She touched the hearts of everyone she met with her soprano voice, gentle nature, roaring laugh, and loving spirit. She raised and cared for many kids and grand-parented even more. She will forever be missed in our hearts and lives.
