Alexis Kez Brown-Wingate, affectionately known as “Trish”, passed away the morning of July 30th. She was an incredible woman--highly intelligent, effervescent, and sociable-who shared her love of the Lord with others and desired to give back to others the best she knew how.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, she attended San Diego High School, the “Grey Castle”, and left there to seek other opportunities. Her travels would take her to many places with her eventually making Kansas City, MO home. She experienced many roles from being a chef at the governor’s mansion in Sacramento, volunteer at a museum in KCMO, and a dedicated employee at the IRS for many years. The greatest role, however, being a devoted Mom and Grandmother.
In her later years Alexis added to her creative skills and began writing a Black American Western and also enjoyed jewelry making. Her love of painting also reignited.
She is preceded into the afterlife by her mother, Trennie Grau, father, James Brown, Jr. and brother, Darin Brown.
She is survived by a multitude of family and friends including her daughters: Quentin Brown and Angela Clark; son, Terrence Campbell; her sisters, Jacqueline and Shirley; her brothers; Wayne, James, Phillip, Ricky, and Otis; her grandchildren: Christopher Bryan, Adishia Willis, Meshawn JeanLouis, Lashonte Alexander, Deouche and Denauje Wicker; 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
