Alice Jean Carroll

Alice Jean Carroll, age 78, was born to Edward White and Beatrice (Henderson) White in Watson, Arkansas, on May 16, 1947, where she stayed until the age of 16 in 1968.

Alice moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where she resided with her family. She worked at JCPenney's Distribution Center and Crosslines Outreach Community Center.

Alice was married to James Lee Matthews Sr., to this union two children were born. Later, she became united in holy matrimony with the late Doris Carroll. Alice and he share over 30 blissful years together. 

Alice was blessed with three children who loved her dearly; Artifine Sanders, Mary Ann Matthews and James Lee Matthews Jr.

She loved going fishing and playing cards. She also loved to barbecue and help others in the community. 

In 2006, Alice moved back to Watson, Arkansas to take care of her mother and daughter. She resided there until the Lord called them home. After which, in 2023, Alice relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. She gave her life to the Lord and became a witness for the Lord by her lifestyle for the rest of her days.

On April 28, 2026, Alice transitioned to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother, two daughters, and her 2nd husband.

Left to cherish Alice's sweet memory: one son, James Lee Matthews Jr. (Lakeisha); a special bonus son, Edward Sanders Sr.; two special bonus daughters, Sherrie Shirley and Jennifer Gibson, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.

We will celebrate Alice Jean's life well lived on Saturday, May 16th, what would have been her 79th birthday, what a grand and blessed celebration that will be.
