Alicia Faye Baker Briggs or “Lisa” as she was known to all, was born on April 8, 1961, in Nettleton, Mississippi. She was the beloved daughter of Maxine Baker Lyles and Eural Lyles, Jr. Lisa departed this life on May 26, 2026, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Tony Lyles.
Lisa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church following the family’s move to Kansas City, Missouri. Her faith was a steady source of strength and guidance throughout her life.
Lisa graduated from Paseo High School in 1979 and earned her degree in Medical Coding and Billing. She later went on to work in various professions, including the fields of hospitality and healthcare. Following the passing of her mother, Lisa took on the role of primary caregiver for her younger siblings, before becoming a mother to her only child, Brandon Baker.
On March 19, 1999, Lisa was united in matrimony to Neive Briggs, beginning a loving partnership built on devotion, laughter, and family. She relocated to Memphis, Tennessee and became a member of New Shiloh Holiness Christian Center under the leadership of Donald Smith, Pastor.
Lisa loved to laugh and dance and had a natural gift for making others feel welcomed. She was a passionate and devoted family woman. Her family and friends, whom she often treated as family, were her greatest joy and priority. She was well known for saying, “You can mess with me, but don't mess with my family!”, a reflection of her fierce love and protective nature. Lisa was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, always putting others before herself and offering love, support, and generosity without hesitation.
Lisa had an incredible memory and was known for her remarkable recall, often remembering details and moments that others had long forgotten. She was a natural conversationalist who loved to talk, debate, and share her perspective (whether invited or not) and her strong, lively personality made her impossible to ignore. A true Aries, Lisa was a fireball: bold, energetic, and full of life!
Lisa’s presence will be deeply missed, but her vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her including her husband: Neive Briggs; her beloved son: Brandon Baker; loved as her own, stepchildren: Travonne Brooks and Angelica Briggs; grandchildren: Brandon Baker Jr., Cyniya Hardin, Caleb Hardin, and Cayden Hardin; siblings: Jerry Lyles, Tammy Anderson (Ronald) of Kansas City, MO; Bernard Morris of Nettleton, MS; Shelia Lyles-Hammons (Tony), Bridgette Lyles, Crystal Lyles, Brian Lyles, Tyisha Washington, and Eurick Washington (Jessica) all of Kansas City, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
