Listen to Obituary

Alisha Nichelle Brooks was born on April 6, 1994, to Jerome Brooks and Jamie Brooks in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended grade, middle, and high school in the Kansas City, Kansas District 500 and graduated from Washington High School in May 2012. She continued her education at Trinity Career Institute and received her Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) degree in 20013. Later she worked on furthering her career while attending Concord Career College. Her recent employment was with Staffmark. She was persistent in making a better life for her and her daughter Aniya.

Alisha really treasured life, enjoyed having fun with her family and extended families, which everyone was family to her. She was always a help to all. That big smile she wore on her face was like a magnet and attracted new friendships among strangers. She loved to cook and try new recipes, nurturing house plants, and took pleasure in looking out and caring for others. Above all, her greatest joy was being a mother to her daughter, Aniya known as “Poodie”. She cherished the time spent with Poodie, going to the park, swimming, mommy and me pampering, and just getting creative for the holiday festivities.

Alisha loved the Lord and was a former member of Mt. Zion A.M.E Zion Church and just recently attended Kansas City Community Church. She was seeking to fill that space in her heart that could only be filled with the Holy Spirit, and she found it. Psalms 61:1-2 says, Hear my cry, o God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than i. Her heart’s desire would be that her unsaved family and friends get to know Christ as their personal savior.

She will be missed, but God loved her best.
