Anitra Shylynn Houston

Anitra Shylynn Houston passed away on August 19, 2019, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on March 9, 1979 in Des Moines, IA to Gary L. Houston and Tanya M. Wilkins.

Anitra was baptized at a young age at Union Baptist Church in Iowa. She later came to Kansas City, Mo joining Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. During her life she always confessed her love & dedication to her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

Anitra attended Southeast High School, where she graduated at the age of sixteen in 1995 and went on to attend college at Missouri Western University. She was extremely intelligent & ambitious.

Anitra was loved by so many, she was adventurous, and had many talents such as singing, dancing, laughing & helping anyone that was in need.  The most memorable things about Anitra were that she had an eidetic memory that many could not believe & her love to talk & eat. She loved her family & wanted nothing but the best for them.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gary L. Houston, Grandmothers Geraldine Lynetta Gunn-Wiseman; Olivia Wilkins, grandfather Floyd Loggins Sr., Aunts Tina Wilkins; LuTonna Houston, & Uncle Frank Turner.

Anitra is survived by her mother Tanya Wilkins-Carter, Darren Carter, sisters Chanel Houston and Garee’ Houston (Jeremy Green), her children Rasaan Houston-Sallee, Rasiah Houston-Sallee, Nateyah Houston-Mitchell, grandparents, Joseph Wilkins, Dorothy Sublett, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
