Listen to Obituary

Ann J. Dunn, 75, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Research Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born on October 2, 1950, in Jonestown, Mississippi, to the union of Samuel Dunn and Carrie Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Carrie Dunn; her son Roderick Dunn; and three siblings, Samuel Dunn, Ira "Sugar" Dunn, and William Ralph Dunn.

Ann was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where she attended D.A. Holmes School and Central High School in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District. After graduating, she entered the workforce and began a career with Hallmark Cards, where she worked faithfully until her retirement around 1991. At a young age, Ann accepted Christ as her Savior, and her faith in the Lord remained a guiding force throughout her life.

Ann had a joyful spirit and loved to dance. Two-stepping was her favorite, and she rarely missed an opportunity to hit the dance floor. Her late brother, Ralph, and her cousin, Tiny, were her favorite dance partners, but she was always happy to dance with anyone who joined her. Her laughter, warm smile, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her.

Ann leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Shareta Dunn; her grandsons, Renard Collier and Reynaul Butler; her great-grandsons, Tray'shun Collier and Day'Shun Collier; her sisters, Margaret Dunn, Cynthia Young (Steve), and Sheleen Dumas (Rick) of Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts
