Listen to Obituary

Annetreuna Mésa Paul-Bowden entered into eternity on May 27, 2021. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 4, 2003, to Otis Paul and Annatrena Simpson and was the second of eightchildren. She was preceded in death by her maternal Grandfather Matthew Simpson and her uncle Tim “Debo” Bowden.

Annetreuna had several nicknames, Treuna, Tree, Sunshine, Bella Pooh, Butterfly, and Angel…yet she was most commonly known as “NaNu.” She had a heart full of compassion for both people, animals, and nature. As early as four years old, she desired to recycle and become a vegetarian as eating meat required an animal's life. Though Annetreuna had a heart of gold, she always fought to protect that treasure. She loved hard and fought even harder for what she believed to be correct. Treuna was a natural beauty, small in stature, yet bold and confident, never allowing the opinion of others to shade her self-perception. At the tender age of 9, when asked to create her own runway outfit, she boldly cut fringes around a shirt and stomped the runway with the confidence of an International Super Model. She was highly creative and gifted in several areas as a singer-songwriter, clothes designer/stylist, baker,craftswoman, and artist.

Her collection of artwork uniquely displayed her deep feelings and outlook on life. Annetreuna had an incredible love for her siblings and would protect them at all costs. As younger children, they even shared their own language. When she grew older, she would mentor and tutor them along with her younger cousins. Family and friends were important to her, including all of her Aunts & Uncles. She held an incredibly special relationship with her Aunt Yawn Bowden- Williams whom she referred to asher second mom. Though she faced many challenges in her 17 years, she remained ambitious, resilient, and full of life. After completing her requirements for High School early at 16 years old, she had plans to walk the stage during graduation ceremonies this year. She will forever be loved and never forgotten.

She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Annatrena Simpson-Alvarado (Rony), Otis Paul(Angela), siblings Otaijah Paul-Bowden, Luiseta Mendoza-Bowden, Matthew Mendoza- Bowden, Joy Javianna Alvarado, Noa Alvarado, Rony Alvarado, MitAce Alvarado, Chaitez Sexton of Kansas City, Missouri and Chai’yawnna Sexton of Houston, TX; step-sisters Christen Tinsley, Antionette Brown, LaKeysha Sankfield and Ebony Bankston-King all of Kansas City Missouri; step-brother Jose Armando-Alvarado of Honduras; maternal grandmother Annie Simpson, paternal grandmother Vanessa Dozier also of Grandview Missouri and a special niece (TT’s baby) An’Naiyah Reece…along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
