April received Christ at an early age while attending summer camp at the City Union Mission Camp in the Ozarks aka CUMCITO. She faithfully attended every summer as a child and returned for several summers in her teen years as a volunteer counselor where she ministered to and cared for children that were less fortunate. She remained connected to God and shared her faith whenever possible.
April starting right out of high school, held various positions of increasing responsible in the Kansas City area. For many years she held a management position in the Housekeeping Department at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Country Club Plaza followed by becoming the Room Service Manager at the prestige Marriott Hotel in downtown Kansas City. She moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1998, and married her devoted and loving husband of 21 years, Aaron Williams in 1999. She went on to complete extensive training in Human Resource Management and worked as a Human Resources Representative for the Kroger Grocery Company for 15 years, until her early retirement in 2010 due to disability.
April had a laugh-at-life sense of humor and enjoyed situation comedy shows like “Archie Bunker”, “The Golden Girls”, and “Still Standing”. You could catch her watching her all-time favorite “The Christmas Story” several times, at any time of the year. Aprilwas all about coordinating her athletic gear and a true “Sneakerhead”. She had a collection containing 100 or more pairs of sneakers (unofficial count-J) She had recently taken an interest and excelled at tie dyeing and was on the verge of a potential entreprenuialship!
April was preceded in death by her father Donne Sharpe Sr., her mother Ester Mae Sharpe and her brother Donne Sharpe Jr.
April leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Wilson Sharpe (daughter-in-law:Lillian) Olajuwon Sharpe, Jason Wright of Topeka, Ks, son and daughter Alarick Williams and Dovie Williams of Kansas City, MO. Three sisters, Tonya Sharpe, Celestine Scott and Yvonne Hill of Kansas City, MO; two brothers Ivan Sharpe of Kansas City, MO and Aaron Sharpe of Arizona. Fourteen grandchildren: Amari Sharpe, Isaiah Blevins, Donte’ Sharpe, Aniya Sharpe, Kymoni Sharpe, twins-Uzziah Stewart & MassiahStewart, Lovie Williams, Pryncess Williams, Blessing (Bella) Willilams, Saleah Johnson, Sidea Johnson, Shawn Johnson, ArynnJohnson and finally, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
