Aretha Louise Harris was born on December 12, 1989 to Reginald D Harris and Gloria J. Harris. Aretha was named after the famous singer Aretha Louise Franklin ( Reggie’s all time favorite singer). Aretha was so loved by Reggie and Gloria, especially since Aretha was their only child. Her parents made sure Aretha was dressed to the T. Growing up Aretha loved getting her nails done and then moved on to makeup. Aretha graduated from Paseo High School in 2008.
Aretha Louise Harris transitioned to Glory on February 11. 2024 peacefully while sleeping. She is preceded in death by her mother Gloria J. Harris, grandfather Bobby G. Harris, grandmother Sallye M. Harris, grandmother Athalean Webb, two aunts Wanda L Smith and Michelle Webb, and a special cousin Myeshia Pruett.
Before graduation, Aretha was employed at Saint Luke's Hospital-Plaza. She worked as a scheduler for the Imaging Department and other positions for 8 years. After leaving Saint Luke’s Hospital, Aretha worked for the United States Post Office as a clerk. She worked for the Post Office until 2022 due to an illness. Aretha secured a work from home job with Conduent Workplace Solutions Center until her death.
As a little girl, Aretha attended Rock of Ages Baptist Church with her parents. Growing up Aretha was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, later changed to Canaan Worship Center. She served as a youth usher and sang with the youth choir. At the time of her death Aretha was attending The Alive Church KC. Aretha loved being around family. Besides her parents, she enjoyed being around both her grandmothers Sallye Harris and Athalean Webb. Aretha not only loved her father Reggie but her grandpa LJ Webb held a special place in her heart.
Aretha had cousins on both sides of the family but one cousin, Tina became a big sister to Aretha. You could always find them together at home or over her Aunt Michelle’s house. When they were together you could hear them giggling and laughing at their own little secrets. Aretha lived her life to the fullest. She loved learning and experiencing new things. Aretha loved shopping with her cousins and her close friends from work and school.
Aretha with RJ, gave birth to a son, Khristian DeWayne Williams. Khristian became the apple of Aretha’s eye. Aretha, Gloria and Reggie made sure Khristian was dressed to the T. Aretha gave Khristian her undivided attention. She had a strong mothers love for Khristian by sacrificing to make sure he had what he needed.
Aretha leaves to cherish her memory: son Khristian D. Williams, Father Reginald D. Harris, Grandfather RJ Webb, Aunts Vanessa J. Harris, Anita M. Gillyard (Curtis), Tari C. Cannon (Keith), Theadora J. Harris, Uncles Gregory E. Harris, Terry Webb (Regina), and Gary Webb (Pam), Cousin/Sister Tina C. Ellis (Eric), a host of special cousins, relatives, and friends. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knows her. We Thank Jesus for the Life and Times of Aretha Louise!!!
