Arthur Lee Jackson Sr.

Arthur (Sammy) L. Jackson, Sr. departed this life, at Sunrise Nursing & Memory Care on October 21, 2023 after his long battle with his health. He was born April 18,1934 in Kansas City, MO to James and Elizabeth (Brown) Jackson who preceded him in death.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his spouse Clemenstene (Hardman) Jackson; four sisters, Daisy Stapleton, Verle Botts, Ann Adams and Clissy Price; three brothers, James Jackson, Joseph Jackson and Robert Jackson.   Sammy is survived by his children, Terry (Marsha) Jackson of California, Arthur Jackson Jr., Paula Butler, Rosalind Gregory, and Rashawnda Townsend; ten grandchildren, Theresa Jackson-Bergstorm, April (Dominic) McCain, Willie (Genel) Mosley, Andrea (Kendrick) Wooten, Nakisha (Rickey) Hunley, Ra’Chelle (Julius) Floyd, Arthur Jackson III, Ashlee Baker, Malcom Jackson, and Xavier Jackson; 28 Great Grandchildren, two Brothers, Eugene (Debra) Jackson, Charles Jackson and one sister, Hazel Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sammy attended R.T. Coals High School and served in the United States Army for a short period of time as a Cook.  He went on to work diligently for Ford Motor Company for 34 years until he retired.

His favorite pastime was spending time on 42nd and South Benton better known as “the block” where he grew up hanging out with his family.  Sammy also had a great love for cars. You could always find him washing, waxing, and detailing his car. When it rained and the rain stopped, he would go out and wipe it down (they aways shined like a brand new penny).  He loved watching cowboy movies and sports (his favorite team being the Los Angeles Lakers).  He also enjoyed spending a lot of time with his grandchildren, finding pure joy in their being. Sammy was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
