Listen to Obituary

Atha B. Rose was born on June 7, 1952, in Kansas City, MO to Rosevelt and Jessie B. Johnson. She grew up in the Kansas City Metro Area and graduated from Central High School In 1970. BIBI passed away at the Maywood Terrace Living Center Independence MO December 14, 2025, after long fight. Both parents; her husband, Charles Rose; and two brothers: Willie J. Johnson and Herman Johnson preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Emeritus Julius Rambo and then under Pastor Rickey D Rambo.

BIBI worked several jobs throughout the KC Metro area as a secretary, supervisor and operator. For several years she lived in Anchorage, Alaska and worked and ran a homeless shelter. BIBI had many talents and some of her hobbies were: cooking (2 famous dishes were Spaghetti Salad/Gumbo/Cornbread Dressing), sewing, interior decorating, and online shopping. She had a passion for fashion and was known to dress amongst the best. Always was clean from head to toe in designer clothing. Through her craftsmanship she knew how to turn nothing into something.

BIBI also was a great dancer and let her tell it; she was the coldest female two-stepper in KC the best to ever have done it. She was a traveler and loved to travel and never stayed in just one place. She lived life and lived it abundantly.

Atha was a loving mother and proud grandmother. Not only that she enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.

BIBI is survived by two beautiful daughters: Keamya Johnson, and Mika Johnson who was also her caregiver; two granddaughters: Akia Briggs, TaViona Mitchell; two special sons: Jamal Prince, Robert Smith; three sisters: Rosie Patrick, Regina Johnson, Kimberly Johnson of (KC MO); two brothers: Michael and Timothy Johnson of (KC MO). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memories.
