Rev. Barbara E. Slaughter, 81, passed away on October 26, 2023, at Mosaic Life Center in St. Joseph, MO. She was born on May 29, 1942, in Sapulpa, OK. to John Henry Williams and Myrtle Agnes Williams. She grew up in Kansas City, MO. and attended school in the KCPS district. She then went on to graduate from Manuel High School. After high school she attended Westport College in Kansas City, MO. where she received a nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Homedale nursing home as an LPN. After leaving Homedale, Barbara began working as a private duty nurse where she cared for her clients dearly. She continued in this field until the unfortunate passing of her client. She retired in 2000 after 36 years. She was involved in the ministry as a pastor in the A.M.E Church. She pastored a number of churches from Odessa Mo., Higginsville, Mo., and Mayview Mo., just to name a few. She married Samuel C. Slaughter Jr. on August 31, 1979, in Tulsa OK. and they were happily married for 21 years.
She was preceded into death by Rev. John H. Williams, Evangelist Mrytle A. Williams, Rev. Samuel C. Slaughter Jr., brother John H. Williams Jr., sisters Pauline Williams and Johnnie Mae Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, William (Nageebah) Black, Kevin (Sasha) Black Sr., and Perry L. Buckner, daughter, Kisha Slaughter, sisters Jeanice Williams, Vanessa Cunningham brother Lewis L. Williams. Grandchildren Kevin (Tiffany) Black Jr., Ahmad (Abby) Martin, Tiara Black, Spencer Haven, Monique (Shane) Pippin, Vanessa Reyes-Black, Kanisha Patrick, Ricki Charles, Ricky Charles Jr., William Black IV, Gordon Jefferson II, and Sharion Cranston. Great grandchildren Christopher, Karter, and Heaven and a host of other relatives and friends.
