Barbara Pickens

Queen Barabara J Woolridge was blessed unto this world on October 12 1959, she was third out of seven children born to Flossie Mae Woolridge and Jessie James Holmes. She was adopted at birth by Essie Thomas in Tyler Texas who nurture her into the tender age of 10 and awaits her at the heavenly gates. Barabara moved to Kansas City with her mother and siblings where she attended Westport High School and later graduated from Metropolitan Community College (Penn Valley). Barabara leaves behind three children Nakoumas Weston, Quincy Weston Sr and Jason Weston Sr.

She sought after a career with the IRS where she worked for 20 years and later retired in 2008. Barabara was a true entrepreneur at heart who believe you should get paid for the things you love to do; she started a daycare out of her love for children "Bubblegum & Balloons Daycare". Where she helps parents raise their kids with love and respect Barbara had a huge heart especially for kids in return, she treated her daycare kids as her own and the parents were treated as family.

Barbara had a heart of gold and was always willing to be a helping hand to anybody who needed it. She exercised tough love to her Children and Grandchildren giving them the tool to continue her legacy of love and forgiveness. The passion she had for life was infectious to anyone around her, love oozed out her soul she was a natural born leader. She celebrated life to the fullest always hosting family get togethers, birthdays and Holidays at her home. "Nette"was blessed with the opportunity to raise her family in the same home that she once stayed in as a child (5532 Euclid) a place where she felt connected too and the people in the neighborhood whom she had a deep love for. She met friends who turned into family along the way she had so much love to give and was always an open ear to talk too. Barbara also known as “BJ”, “Nette”, “Barbara J” to many of her close friends and family members.

She transitioned though the pearly gates December 19 2020 at the early age of 61, She was preceded in eternal life by her grandson Kemon Smith, Mothers and Father, her great friends Evelyn and Ms. Pat, Charles and Bobbie Boatwright and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and Nephews who are waiting for her at heavens gates to greet her with open arms and assure a safe journey home.

Final goodbye to her sisters (Cathy Stewart, Brenda Woolridge) and four brothers (James Woolridge, Donald Clear, Fredrick Holmes, Dwight Woolridge.) The Thomas family who raised her with love and compassion

Sadly, goodbye to her children ( Nakoumas Weston, Qunicy (Amber) Weston and Jason (Krishawnda) Weston).

And with all her heart goodbye to her twenty-two grandkids (Eriona, Marquion, Quincy, Dominic, Quayveon, Akira, Daevion, Rayquion, Javon, Chavon, Jason, Jordan, Nyia, Amoni, Sirenitee, Kyeshia, Amarion, Jayse, Quintavion, Azariyah, Tr’ru, Lariya, and Zayshawn). And ten great grandkids (Samara, Le’Eriea , Jett, Lai’jah, London, Jayden, Ava, Angeliec, Laila, and Latrell).

And last but not least Goodbye to a Host of friends and family not mention but never forgotten. She leaves behind many who will cherish every memory they made and every smile she gave forever. Goodbye to her cousins Cynthia and Lorraine who she will miss her phone conversations and laughs.
