Barbara Jean Sharp, 63, passed away on March 20, 2020 in Calumet City, IL. Barbara was born July 13,1956 in Jefferson City, MO to Malcom L. Griffin and Emma Jean McDaniel. Barbara grew up in Jefferson City and Cedar City, MO before moving to Kansas City, MO. Barbara graduated from Central High School in Kansas City Missouri in 1974.
Barbara worked a variety of jobs throughout her life ranging from a nurses’ aid at Saint Luke’s Hospital to various positions in the hospitality industry. Barbara was a strong mother and loved her children and grandchildren dearly. With this love Barbara developed four successful children of which she was very proud of. Barbara loved having her grandchildren and great grandchildren around her as well as friends and family’s children. Barbara was known for loving and decorating for holidays especially Halloween and Christmas. This is how a lot of the younger children in the family got to know her because she often hosted sleepovers.
Everyone who met Barbara was unable to forget her energizing and fun personality, love of music, and willingness to help others. Barbara had a heart for helping others from opening her home to providing a simple meal. Barbara will be remembered for her dedication to others, love for her family and ability to have a good time despite the situation.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents Emma Jean McDaniel and Malcom L. Griffin Sr., two brothers Robert and Bruce Turner. Barbara is survived by 7 bothers- Rodney Griffin (Sandra), Malcom L. Griffin Jr., Leonard Turner, Carl Griffin (Brenda), Michael Collins, Stevie Collins and Rick Collins. Two sisters- Donna Turner and Stephanie Smith and three honorary life sisters Loretta Williams, Kimberly Long and Missy Frasier. Barbara leaves to cherish four children- Carla Hawkins, Marsha Hall (Adrian Sr.), Shana McKinney (Edward) and Laurence Logan II. Twelve grandchildren- Keenan Hawkins (Leanna), Kelsie Smith (Marcus), Jrae’ Hawkins, Adrian Hall Jr, Alexander Hall, Faith Hall, Taylor McKinney, Misono McKinney, Nozomi McKinney, Mirei McKinney, Lauren Logan and Laurence Logan III. Five great-grandchildren- Carter Wyatt, Brooklynn Hawkins (Keenan), Marcus Smith Jr., Marquis Smith, Janelle Smith (Kelsie). Barbara was survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins as well as close dear friends.
