Barbara Kathleen Slaughter

Barbara Kathleen Slaughter entered this world on February 8, 1963 to the proud parents, Ella and Virgil Slaughter. She was the fifth child of six siblings. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri and attended Paseo Academy High School. She was blessed with one son, Epris Slaughter and a daughter, DeAntreia Ashley, who preceded her in death. Barbara was a Home Care Aide for over 16 years and loved caring for others. She loved to travel, going to C.A. conventions and functions all over the country, dancing and 2-steppin', and fellowshipping with family and friends. She was heavily involved in working with women in recovery and she sponsored many in her 16 1/2 years of recovery in C.A. You can say "Barbara has now earned her heavenly coin and has truly recovered". Barbara was a lively person with a great sense of style and fashion, she could always be counted on to decorate a hall or room! She'd always say, "There's work to be done!", and she got tremendous enjoyment out of helping others and being of service to the fellowship of C.A. Barbara was the best friend a person could hope for and her smile would light up a room and was infectious to all those around. She was loved by many! Barbara passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2017 while working overnight in Lenexa, Kansas at age 53. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ella and Virgil Slaughter, daughter, DeAntreia Ashley, sister, Virgie Carter, brother, Phillip S. Slaughter, and nephew, Daniel Slaughter. She leaves to cherish her memory her son: Epris R. Slaughter; granddaughter Myora (Nadia) Slaughter; sister, Mildred Terry; brothers, Ivory "Red" Terry and Virgil D. Slaughter both of Kansas City; aunt, Pauline Adams; uncle, Emmett Sutherlin; special mention to nieces QuVawnia Carter and Bobbi Watson, and a host of family, nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends.
