Barbara Louise White, better known as “Barbie” was born November 26, 1962 to Joe Lewis and Ida Mae White. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Cresandra Mae
White.
At the age of nine Barbie suffered a debilitating stroke that left her right hand permanently paralyzed. Despite this minor setback and in addition to fighting sickle-cell, Barbie graduated from
Van Horn High School and went on to receive her Associate degree from Penn Valley College. She was a couple of credits short of receiving a Bachelor’s degree.
Barbie pursued many interests that included real estate, collecting restaurant menus and as a caseworker for wayward teens. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist church under the leadership of the awesome Reverend Frazier. There at Ebenezer she participated in the security ministry. Barbie had an affinity for cats. They often say people with sickle-cell are
extremely comforted by cats. Barbie had a tenacious, feisty spirit that despite her many health challenges, she continued to rise to all of the occasions.
Barbie leaves to Cherish four sisters, Doris LA Gay ONeal- Collins, Theresa Shelby, Darline Cowan, Christy White, one brother Terry Raydean White. A host of aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces cousins.
