Bertha M. Proffitt

Bertha M. Proffitt, “Winnie” departed life on October 1, 2023. Born on October 5, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Lavoy and Bertha Tuggle. Bertha was preceded in death by her son Sheldon II, both parents, paternal grandparents Artie and Geneva Tuggle; maternal grandparents, Maseo and Beatrice Grayson; brothers, Gary and Larry Tuggle

Bertha attended school in the Kansas City area and Graduated from Central High School in 1976. While attending Central she met the love of her life Sheldon and was married on July 23rd 1981. To this union 2 sons were born.

She dedicated over 40 years of service to the Federal Government working in many capacities such as Census Bureau, Federal Reserve, and Internal Revenue Service.

Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, dancing at her home also known as Good Time House “GTH”, While enjoying some her famous cooking.

Bertha was baptized at an early age and attended Bethesda Baptist for many years. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Bertha’s memories will be cherished by her loving husband Sheldon, Son Sycil, Neice/Daughter Julia Roberson, Sister Donna Jo Johnson (Rob), Pagerine Tuggle; brothers, Kelvin (Rhonda), Victor and Tyrone Tuggle. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
