Betty Jean Washington was born to the union of Rosie Mae and Herbert Murray Sr., on June 2, 1941 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Betty was the first born to this union.
Betty accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized under the leadership of the Ninth Street Gideon Baptist Church. She continued her life journey serving the Lord and stewardship. She received her education in the KC School District, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1959.
Betty worked for AT&T retiring after 32 years of service. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, talking over the phone to her friends. She loved shopping and going out to eat. She spent most of her time helping others, whether it’s family or the community, doing service work, reaching out to help somebody in need. She recognized her calling.
Betty departed her life on Saturday March 26, 2022, in the home surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Mae and Herbert Murray Sr., her ex-husband David Washington, Sr., her great grandson Amorian Sylvester Lee Hale, her grandparents Gladys Hooker McKinzy and Rev. Issac Hooker Sr., five aunts and one uncle.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, daughter Lynne Murray (Larry) of KC Mo., son Mark Washington (Mary) of KC Mo., two brothers Phillip Murray (Gloria) and Kenneth Murray of KC Mo., one aunt Wilma Carson of KC Mo., one uncle Samuel Hooker (Earnestine) of KC Mo., two grandchildren Keyota Bushnell and Christopher Hale of KC Mo., DeAndra Boyd (Germon) of KC Mo; Daris Pouncil (Danielle) of KC Mo., 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
