Beverley J. Cooper, passed away on May 14, 2020 at the age of 73 in her home in Kansas City, MO.  She was born on September 30, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Walter and Mildred Brodie.  She grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Central High School in 1964. After graduating high school, Beverley pursued her dream of being a model.  Beverley participated in the Miss Kansas City pageant and the first black woman to compete in the Miss Missouri pageant.

She became a Christian at an early age and later joined Gethsemane New Testament Baptist Church where she served as an usher. In 1981, Beverley married Moses Cooper in Kansas City, MO. This year they celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Beverley discovered her passion of wanting to sell houses and pursued her career as a Real Estate agent for over 30 years. She retired in early 2014.  Beverley was a dedicated wife and loving, caring and supporting mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends.  She never hesitated expressing how proud she was of her children and granddaughter. She was always there to lend a helping hand when in need.  Beverley often referred to herself as “The Boss” referencing her musical idol Diana Ross...she loved her some Diana Ross!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred Brodie and brother, Donald E. Brodie, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Moses Cooper of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Lisa Cherry of Kansas City, MO; son, Justin Cooper of Kansas City, MO and granddaughter, Courtney Peterson of Kansas City, MO; brother, Ronald E. Brodie, Sr (Diane) and sister, Joan E. Brodie of Kansas City, MO and cousins, Melissa Clark of Kansas City, MO and Faye Johnson of Kansas City, MO and a host of nieces and nephews; close friends Abigail Ruffin and Gloria Hayward.
