Beverly Smith

Beverly Jean Smith, passed away on July 27, 2017 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on January 26, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas to Raymond Moye, Sr and Irene Porter-Moye. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduating from Central High School. She began working for Butler Manufacturing as a welder, where she worked for 14 years. She retired in 1991 after 14 years of service. She married Samuel Smith in 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 10 years.

Beverly was a member of the New Testament Church for more than 50 years, and served faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop Prince King. She served as an usher, choir member, and worked with the youth department on various fundraisers. She was involved in the KPRT Scripture Shower, the Grandparents program, and volunteering at Carver Center. Beverly also loved shopping, decorating, and traveling, and she had a great love for plants and flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond Moye and Irene Porter-Moye, son; Samuel Ray-Smith, her brothers; Larry and Ronald Moye, maternal grandparents; Jimmy and Janie Porter, paternal grandparents; Joe and Lula Moye.

Beverly leaves to cherish her memories he daughter; Marquetta Smith, Thailisha Smith, grandchildren; Marquisha, Marchelle, Maria, December, Samuel Ray Jr., great grandchildren; Don’Marie, Trinity, Samuel Ray III, Summer, step daughter; Janice Smith-White, God daughter; Jackeshia Lollis, her brothers; Aree Smith and Raymond Moye Jr, her sisters; Sherry Washington (Cleven), Donna Bello, and Michelle Moye,and her 4 leg grand dog; Dot Smith.
