Bishop Carl Landrum, Sr

Bishop Carl Landrum Sr. was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on, February 8, 1943. He was the 3rd oldest son born to the union of Mellon and Derother Landrum.

Later he moved to Kansas City with his mother and became a member of Evangelist Temple House of Refuge for All Nations Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the Late Bishop S.R. Chambers in 1949. He worked in the church and later he played the saxaphone in the band.

In 1961, Bishop Landrum attended and completed his schooling at Manual High School and Manual Tech. His trade at Manual Tech was tailoring. He knew how to alter clothes and make adjustments and made several outfits for Lady Landrum. Most of Bishop's adult life, he attended school. He studied under W.V. Grant, Western Bible College, and Benny Hinn School of Ministry. He also was a contributor of "Supporters of Israel" and "Building Wells for Africa.

Bishop Landrum faithfully served with other ministries: Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ, the late Elder Carl Williams, Pastor, and Evangelist Temple #3, the late Overseer William Camp, Pastor.

Bishop Landrum was employed at President Hotel as a chef where he met the love of his life, Marshalene Brown, who worked as a salad girl and they married, May 20, 1962. To this union, 4 children were born, Carl Jr., Vincent, Kenneth and Carlita Landrum.

Bishop Landrum worked several places, but the one place he worked the longest was Pilgrim House Furniture Company, at which he worked for over 30 years, and retired in 1997.

Bishop Landrum loved the outdoors, fishing in the spring and summer and hunting in the fall. He would say to his wife, " I'm going to get dinner". He knew the best places to go to get lots of fish, enough for a feast. Most hunting was done during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and he always came home with all the meat we needed for dinner.

Bishop Landrum loved his family and when the children were young, he would always set aside a time when he, Lady Landrum, and the family could travel together. When the children became adults with their own family, he and Lady Landrum traveled several places together such as: Israel, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, California, Arizona, Florida, and on many cruises.

After much prayer and fasting, Evangelist Temple Christ Unlimited Church of God in Christ was established in 1978. The church started with seven people, including his mother, Mother Landrum, and aunt, Missionary Tilford. As time went on, many souls were added to the church.

He was Overseer Landrum before becoming a Bishop. It was on October 24, 1999, during the National Convocation, he was consecrated to the office of Bishop and Jurisdictional Pre-late by The Most Reverend C. David Willis. Bishop Landrum was also the Dean of the School of Ministry through the Friends International Christian University.

Bishop Landrum did not only serve the Lord, but he also served the Church and their families, as well as his family.

Bishop Landrum leaves a legacy, in which he was a man of faith, a praying man, and sought God's guidance for his church, his family, and his life. He knew how to correct, and he knew how to direct without judging. He always reminded the church to be prayerful and he would say, "You can't go under for going over", and "You are not a loser, but a winner. I am what God says I am, I can do what God says I can do." "I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ" and "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

He was preceded in death by his mother, Derother Landrum; father, Mellon Landrum; daughter, Carlita Landrum; two brothers, Cornell Landrum, and Samuel Landrum.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted, committed wife, Dr. Marshalene Landrum; three sons, Elder Carl Landrum Jr. (Estella), Vincent Landrum (Moneica), and Elder Kenneth Landrum, Sr. (Stephanie) all of Kansas City Missouri; his first daughter-in- law, Rhonda; one brother, Pastor Lorenzo Landrum (Donericia) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Aaron (Shay), Vanessa, Cassandra, Joshua Landrum, Shakiesha James, Vincent, Jr.(Denise), Del'von, and Kenneth Landrum Jr.; great-grandchildren, Cederick Victor, Savannah Victor, Tyler James, and Vincent Landrum Ill; extended grandchildren, Cymira, Jelani, Gyasi, Jabari, Jamesia, Lamont, Jasmine, Joscelyn, Stacy, and Terrence; extended great-grandchildren, Noble, Zarah, Lerelle, Caden, Gavin, Lamia, Jalynn, Shaundiian, Jaden, Zoe, Demi, SaMya, Abrie, Zion, Desirae, and Desire. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, Church Family, and many other friends.
