Bronzelle Gentry

October 22, 1945 — July 7, 2021

Listen to Obituary

Ms. Bronzelle Gentry was born to the union of Oscar and Beauna Gentry on October 22, 1945 in Birmingham, AL.  She departed this life on July 7, 2021.  She was preceded in death by both parents, her brothers Clyde L. and Oscar Gentry and her daughter, Wendy Carlisle.

Bronzelle graduated from Western-Olin High School.  After high school Bronzelle married Fred O. Carlisle.  To this union they were blessed with their baby girl Wendy.  They later moved to New York and were blessed with another addition, Alecia Dionne.  The family then moved to Kansas City, MO where she joined her brother Clyde and his family.   Later she was blessed to have her only son: Rudy Lamar Gentry.

Bronzelle worked for many years at General Motors. She developed lasting friendship from her time working there. Of all of her friendships there was one that was near and dear to her heart.  That was her best friend from childhood: Johnnie “Boo” Watley. They were best friends who married best friends and had a double wedding. Their bond remained strong until the end.

Bronzelle was loved by so many.  She had such a calm demeanor that was soothing and comforting to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was affectionately called “Bronzie” by many.   Oftentimes, her brothers could be found hanging out at her house spending time with her.  She was dearly loved by her siblings.  They could depend on her to be the voice of reason.  No one touched her heart like her children and grandchildren and even great grandchildren.

Her memories will be forever cherished by her son: Rudy Gentry; her daughter: Alecia Carlisle. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ashley, Brandan, Jasmine, Rionna, Taylor, Ryan, Ahvon and Joy; and great-grandchildren: Brandan, Alijah, Brisan and Josiah.  She leaves one brother: Carl J. Gentry of KCMO; and one sister: Gwendolyn Clayborne of Birmingham, AL.  She leaves a host of extended family who will miss her dearly.
