Byron A. Garrett, 35, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, alongside his beloved younger brother Taylor. He was born on December 27, 1989, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alfred Green and Sara Garrett.
He was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri, Public School District and graduated from Northeast High School in 2009.
Byron held several jobs during his life. Most recently he was employed by the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
During his younger years, Byron had a love for sports. Particularly basketball and football, but his greatest passion was his family and being a dad. From the time Byron knew he was going to be a father, that was what he devoted his life to: his daughter. She was his reason for living and his best friend. Their relationship was on full display everywhere they went. There weren’t very many places that you saw him that you did not see her. You just know that same love and caring that only a father can provide was just waiting for his new baby girl. The love he showed his family was unmatched.
Byron was always there when you needed him and even when you thought you didn’t. He was the first to say, “I love you,” by expressing his affection for you, and he also would express his disappointment to keep us accountable for our actions towards one another.
His distinct voice and unforgettable smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by both maternal grandparents, Arthur and Melvina Garrett; paternal grandfather, Alfred Green Sr.; mother, Sara Garrett; sister, Serena Garrett; brother, Taylor Garrett; aunt, Wanda Powell; and several beloved cousins.
He leaves to cherish fond memories two daughters: Ariel Garrett and Brielle Garrett (unborn); father Alfred Green Jr.; maternal grandmother Phyllis Green; two sisters: Tia Garrett (Ameer Sr.) and LaShawndra Green; three aunts: Victoria Palmer Williams (David), Flora Townsend (Willie), and Tonya Green; six uncles: Gary Norman (Trina), Arthur Norman, Daniel Garrett, Douglas Garrett (Jacqueline), David Garrett, and Christopher Green (Felicia); three nieces: Meah Garrett, Asia Robinson, and India Robinson; three nephews: Monterrio Garrett, Ameer Hays Jr., and Kevon Jones; and one great niece, Nylah Garrett.
The special lady in his life was Ms. Melinda Reliford (mother of his unborn child), along with her children that he loved as his own: Ameer Tiger and Kahlani Tiger; and several close cousins that were loved as brothers: Destin Garrett, Tomorren Garrett, David Garrett Jr., and Darris Norman.
