Calvin Joseph Washington Sr., lovingly known as "Fats" to his family and friends, was born on April 15, 1999, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Donna-De Verona Washington and Calvin Joseph Strickland Jr. On May 25, 2026, Memorial Day, Calvin departed this life unexpectedly in Kansas City, Missouri, leaving behind countless loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Calvin attended Job Corps, where he earned his High School Diploma and a certification in Masonry. He was a man with a larger-than-life personality who could light up a room with his humor and infectious smile. Fats was known for being funny, protective, kind-hearted, and generous. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a special way of making people laugh, even during difficult times.
Calvin enjoyed playing video games, buying and admiring nice cars, and spending time with family and friends. He embraced life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to enjoy himself. Above all, Calvin loved his children with all his heart. Being a father brought him immense pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with his babies.
Calvin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Washington Sr., and his uncle, Ronald Washington Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Calvin Joseph Washington Jr.; his daughter, Ciara Washington; his mother, Donna-De Verona Washington; his father, Calvin Joseph Strickland Jr.; his brother, Lance Strickland; his sister, Donnanica Washington; his nephew, Tayler Washington; his niece, Andrea Morris; his grandmothers, Wanda Washington and Brenda Strickland; his grandfather, Calvin Strickland Sr.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Though his life was far too short, Calvin's love, laughter, generosity, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue through his children, his family, and the countless memories he created throughout his life.
