Carl James Smith, 53, departed this life on December 21, 2020 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on April 18, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri to Eclophia Smith and Lonnetta M. Smith.
Carl was lovingly known as “Carley Pooh,” or “Pooh” by his family. He was a graduate from South West High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1986 and served for two years with the rank of Lance Corporal. His specialty was 2512 field wireman. He earned the Rifle Marksman badge, and a letter of appreciation. After being discharged from the Marines, he worked at various companies such as Kap-pel Fabrics, Office Depot, Cardinal Health, and Musicians Friends until his health started to fail.
Carl was a member of Beauty of Holiness New Testament Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop Prince King, and Bishop Cleven Washington. He served in the church as an ordained Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and he sung in the choir. One of Carl’s hobbies were being a gamer, and those that knew him, knows that he really LOVED TO EAT!
On August 22, 1986, he married Marquetta Smith. They were married for 34 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Eclophia and Lonnetta Smith; his brother: Charles Abner; and one granddaughter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Marquetta Smith; three loving daughters: Marquisha, Marchelle, and Maria Smith; three granddaughters: Trinity, Don’Marie, and his name sake, Carley; his sister: Anita Smith; his brothers, Eclophia Smith (Angie), Mark, and John Herry; special lifelong friends: Donald Macon, and Phillip Hightower, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
