Carl D. Stennis, affectionately known as “Superman,” passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born in Gould, Arkansas, to the late Essie Stennis and Hattie B. Stennis.
Carl was preceded in death by his beloved daughters, Eddie Ruth Tyson and Mary Stennis, and his brothers, Ervin Stennis and Junior Stennis.
After relocating to Kansas City, Missouri, Carl married the late Ollie Mae Braxton, with whom he raised eight children. A man of strong faith, Carl joined Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Albert L. Colbert. Under the current pastor, Joseph Fletcher, he faithfully served on the Kitchen Committee, the Delightful Group, and Usher Board #2.
In his leisure, Carl enjoyed dominoes, cards, fishing, and sharing his many talents with others. His hands were gifted, his spirit generous, and his presence a blessing to all who knew him.
