Carla was born on March 22, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri to Will and Patricia Nelson.  Carla attended Southeast High School and during that time she became a three time student athlete.  She was heavily involved in volleyball, basketball, and track.  After graduating from Southeast High School in 1980, she attended Avila University of Kansas City, MO and Park University.  She excelled in college both academically and as a member of the Avila University “Eagles” basketball team.  After training for years winning basketball and baseball tournaments, she decided to retire from sports entirely and pursue her second passion in life, helping children, as a supervisor, at the Hilltop Residential Treatment Center operated by the Family Court Services. Carla later retired in 2000 at that time Carla became a softball coach for the lady monarchs.

Carla accepted Christ at an early age.  She attended Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene for over forty years under the leadership of Dr. Larry C. Lott, Jr.  Carla served on many Ministries, she was a youth and teen director, orchestrated the black history programs, board member, choir member, drama director (chosen ones).  Carla was very active in the women’s ministry, she organized fashion shows, as well as organizing teen trips and coordinating the reunion choir and volunteering in the Church food pantry

Carla E. Frazier, 61, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on June 09, 2023.

Carla was preceded in death by both parents, Will & Patricia Nelson, Grandparents, Fred & Julia Nixon, Aunt(s) Barbara Hunter, and Brenda Thomas, and a brother-in-law, Robert Carter Jr.  Carla is survived by a Sister Sherry Carter, Son Derron Frazier, Granddaughters Sierra and Miraya Frazier Nephews Robert Carter III (Brittany) CaRon Carter, Deonte Carter, Nieces Siera Carter, Ledesha Carter, Great nephews Zante Hampton, Zilan Hampton, Major Carter, Omari Carter, Great niece Karson Carter, God sisters Rosiland White, Erika Harris and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
