Carla Evette Williams, affectionately known as LaLa, departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father, December 21, 2023. She was born May 24, 1958, to the late Izanetta McFarland and Carl McFarland Jr, of Cleveland, OH. Carla Attended school in the Kansas City, MO school district and earned her high school diploma from Southeast High School, class of 1976.
She married David J Williams Sr in 1975. From that union are 2 children, Nikkita Williams and David J Williams Jr, of the city. Their union was dissolved, but they remained very good friends.
Carla became a devout Christian at an early age, by being baptized by Pastor F.D. Robinson, at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church, of Leeds KC. She continued her service of our Lord and Savior, by becoming a dedicated member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was committed to the choir, with her strong and boisterous alto voice. She was so proud to become one of the first Lady Deacons of the church, a title she took very seriously. She loved singing for the Lord, and visiting with the sick and shut in. She truly loved the Lord.
Carla began working at the age of 14 with the J.O.Y. Program. She also worked at Macy’s, General Motors, Wonder Bread, Allstate Insurance, and eventually AT & T, where she retired after 21 years in March 2018.
LaLa was a proud devoted Grandmother to her 2 Grandsons, her pride & joy, Jai’len & Jayden Jones. You could see & hear her at every sporting event, awards ceremony, and anything else they were involved in.
She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Myrtis & Fisher Phillips, and Pearl McFarland; her Mother Izanetta McFarland, and Uncles James (Boobi) Farris and Henry Francis Jr.
