Carlos Biggs, 74, was born November 1, 1950 in Texas to Aubyn LaJean Hunt. A devoted spouse of 28 years, Carlos spent his life contributing to his community, and building lasting friendships. Carlos was a graduate of Paseo High School Class of 1969, He was a natural entrepreneur with a passion for creating and building businesses. Over the years, he wore many hats, from opening the first black owned video store , Master Video; founding Biggs Records; earning his real estate license, and thriving in car sales. Most recently, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening Mr. Biggs Place, a lounge with live music where friends and family gathered to celebrate life’s moments. He retired from the City of Kansas City after 25 years of service.
Through his work, Carlos showcased his unwavering determination, his knack for connecting with people, and his ability to bring his visions to life. No matter the venture, he poured his heart and soul into everything he did, leaving a lasting legacy of resilience and creativity. When he was not working, you could find him singing and listening to all different types of music. He had a great sense of fashion and his calming demeanor had a way of de-escalating any situation with his smooth tone of voice. He touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Carlos departed this life peacefully at home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was preceeded in death by his mother Aubyn LaJean Hunt and his son LaVance Ellis. Sr. Carlos is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Biggs; his children, Gwenleia Ausler, Carlos D. Ausler, Aaron Payne, Ammris Echols, Andrew Echols, Sr. (Lana), and Andre Echols (Jessica). He also leaves behind his brothers, D'Mustafah Abdullah (Ashley) and James Moore (Annette). He was a grandfather to Montel Evans (Brittany), Adarius Evans (Cierra), Talisha Ellis, Latasha Ellis, LaVance Ellis Jr., Rameris Williams, Ariyah Williams, Ameer Echols, and Andrew Echols, Jr. Carlos was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Tyson Barbosa, Mylei Dale, LaVance Barbosa, Darosen Evans, and Daleeyah Evans. Carlos was an Uncle to Alicia Dewey (Andre Dewey Sr), Andre Dewey Jr, Anaya Dewey, Austin Dewey, Natalie Moore, LaShaunda Toombs, Howard Kevin Chase IV, Shawn Howard Chase, Aneesha Abdullah, Kaylei Murrell, Kali Murrell .Carlos was a Godfather to Ramon Moses. Carlos also leaves behind many special friends.
Carlos' life was a testament to love, perseverance, and generosity. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the impact he left on our hearts and lives is enduring.
