Carmen M. Brown-Taylor was born on February 13, 1955, to Leroy and Jean Brown in Kansas City. She began her education at Dunbar Elementary School in Kansas City, KS. At the age of 12, Carmen moved to Los Angeles, CA, to live with extended family members William and Fronie Cox. While in Los Angeles, she attended Our Lady of Lords Catholic Jr. High School.

Carmen eventually returned to Kansas City and graduated from Westport High School in 1972. Throughout her life, Carmen was known for her strong work ethic and commitment. She became the face of 90 Minute Cleaners for many years before transitioning to a position as an Environmental Services Aid for the City of Kansas City, MO. Carmen worked there until an injury forced her to retire early, but her impact on her community and workplace remained significant.

Carmen was a vibrant and lively person, bringing joy to every event she attended. She loved to dance, especially with her children to her favorite song, "Lifestyle." She was strong and full of wisdom and had the funniest \She cherished simple moments, like sitting on her porch, people watching, listening to music, and talking to her sister, Connie. Carmen was loved and respected by many, and hated by none. Her love extended beyond her family, as she was a mother and grandmother to all. Affectionately known as "Granny Carmen," she held a special place in the hearts of children, especially her great-granddaughter, Karsyn "Lola" Alexander, for whom she spent endless amounts of time with. Carmen was a dedicated mother, grandmother and Great Grandmother. Carmen's legacy was built on love, connection, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Carmen was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Jean Brown Sr.; her sister, Sandra Cornelius; and her brothers, Roger Brown, Newton Brown, and Leroy Brown Jr., all of Kansas City, MO.

Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her brothers Clark Brown, Herman Brown, and Todd Hill; her sisters Patricia Glenn and Connie Robinson; her devoted daughter, Tora Brown; and her sons Christopher Brown (Iesha) and Marteau Brown. She was a proud grandmother to Shaikeece, Krystal, Tavon, Tehtum, Alea, McKenzie, Tori, Marteau Jr., Cameron, Liam, and Christopher Jr., as well as a loving great-grandmother to Lauren, King Anthony, Karsyn, Kameria, and Keelan (KB). A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Carmen's life was a testament to strength and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by those she touched throughout her life.
