Carol Ann Griffin departed this life on July 23, 2024. She was born to her loving parents Melvin Monroe, Sr., and Josephine D. Monroe on June 19, 1945, in Grenada, Mississippi.
She graduated from John Marshall High school, in Chicago, IL and began a long career at Standard Oil (Amoco now known as BP). She attended a vocational school to become certified in professional services working in sales accounting. She was a dedicated employee for over 27 years at Standard Oil in Chicago IL, and then moved to Kansas City, MO, and then transferred for her job to Des Moines IA, and Tulsa, OK where she then retrieved in 2000.
She married David Griffin, Sr. in 1964 and to that union they had two children David Griffin, Jr. and Antoine Griffin.
She used to bartend in her spare time at “The Spot”. Carol was quiet but fierce. She had a giving spirit. She enjoyed playing games on her phone and reading romance novels. She also enjoyed going to softball games. She loved listening to the oldies but goodies, which is a love she passed down to her boys. Her preferred drink of choice was Pepsi.
She is proceeded in death by, her parents (Melvin and Josephine Monroe) and her ex-husband (David Griffin, Sr.), a brother Melvin Monroe, Jr.
Those left with fond and cherished memories include her sons David Griffin, Jr. and Antoine Griffin; her siblings Daryl (Sheila), Kevin (Yolanda), Sylvia, Valerie (Ray), Chermane, Sarita, She also leaves behind five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
