Carolyn Y. Jacoway passed away on April 17, 2026, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on October 7, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jeremiah Lenley and Bessie L. Lenley (Watts). Carolyn lived in and attended the Kansas City Public School District. Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Carolyn met and became friends with Fred L. Jacoway Jr. and later married. They were happily married for 11 years and shared 3 beautiful children, Bridget, Fred III, and Tracy, and one stepdaughter, Pamela.
Every morning, Carolyn loved her coffee, talking to her plants, being outdoors, and hearing the birds chirping. She loved playing Spades, Tonk, and Bingo. Carolyn was really good at it. She enjoyed entertaining her company by listening to soulful music and dancing. It tickled her when she would see the kids dance for her. Carolyn would love for us to drive her around and look at the Christmas lights. Doing so brought so much joy to her heart. She enjoyed shopping at Hobby Lobby, Macy’s, JCPenney’s, and Price Chopper. Carolyn also had a passion for art. In Carolyn’s earlier years, she found employment as the supervisor of housekeeping for the Marriott Hotel. After 40+ years of hard work, she retired in 2014 from Kindred Hospital.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah Lenley; Bessie L. Lenley (Watts); Pamela D. Wright (daughter), Fred L. Jacoway III (son), Sharon Walker (sister), Brenda J. McKinney (sister), Ronald L. Wright (grandson), Martez L. Jacoway (grandson), and Ron’Tez Lewis (great-grandson).
Carolyn is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Bridget Jacoway and Tracy Ellis; her brother, Dennis Lenley (Lois); and her sister, Shelia Perkins (Anthony Sr.). She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: RonShawna Wright, Carolyn Walden (Michael), Keiana Jacoway, Kalisha Jacoway, Katrina (SJ) Ferguson, Kay Jacoway, Carliscia Block, Clarisa Block, Trevon Redwood, Jayla Jacoway, and Jordan Jacoway. She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended relatives, and dear friends.
