Listen to Obituary

Carolyn (Kat) Baker-Brown, 55, was born on November 20th, 1968, to George Baker Jr. and Erma Lee Baker in Liberal, Kansas. She was the youngest of three children born to their union. Kat accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age. She began her Christian Walk at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and upon her departure to be with the Lord, she was a member of Spruce St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George Barnes Jr. It was no secret that she loved the Lord with all her heart, and encouraged everyone she knew to get saved. Kat grew up in Wyandotte County and was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas school district where she obtained her GED. She was an amazing, extraordinary, compassionate, and selfless mother to her three children who were her pride and joy, and an incredible grandmother to her grandchildren. As an adult, she devoted her time to caring for those in need working as a CNA at Medicalodge for many years, and later as a CMA at Trinity Lutheran Manor where she was employed for 14 years. She concluded her career as a caregiver in 2021 as a private-duty home care aide.

She enjoyed dancing and was well known for being the life of the party. At any given time, she could be found laughing and having a good time with family and friends. We cannot forget her stylish ways, as we know she enjoyed thrifting, and would always be well-dressed. She possessed a genuine spirit and would help anyone, no matter the circumstance. She was well-known and loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Baker Jr., mother, Erma Lee Baker, maternal grandparents, Richard Chaffin and Edell Chaffin, and paternal grandparents, Mary Mingo and George Baker Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory one brother Kenneth Baker Sr. (Jean) of Overland Park, KS., and one sister Maylon Davis of Crowley, Texas. Her three children whom she devoted her entire life to, Darrica Tyler (Darren Sr.) of Fort Worth, Texas, Deondric Davis, and Rashawnda Jackson (Terron Sr.) all of Kansas City MO. Her most prized possession is her seven grandchildren Darren Tyler Jr., Ana’jia Davis, A'Niah Randle-Tillman, Terron Jackson Jr., Day’vian Harvey, Dalyn Tyler, and Jaiden Jackson. Lastly, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special brother-in-law Jeffery Davis Sr.
