On December 19, 2025, Cartez Andre Garlington, a son, our brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, took the hand of the Lord and moved on to glory.
Cartez, affectionately known as "Boobie", was born August 31, 1972, in Kansas City, MO to Carlton Cook and Anita Garlington. To this union, he was the second of three children born.
Cartez attended Van Horn High School. After his time in school, he got a job at Neff Printing and took pride in working there. "Boobie" also had interest in the entertainment industry, specifically music. He created his own group "Kings of The Rhymin Industry" (K.R.I.). When preforming with his group he then gained a love for dj-ing, giving himself the nam "DJ Ouu Wee". Over time this allowed him to find excitement for promoting and hosting parties and shows.
Cartez became a well-known promoter in Kansas City. In his own words, "he became somebody!"
He continued expressing his love for music throughout his lifetime through his singing habits, having random outbursts of his favorite song and also writing lyrics for his artist that he would sign through his company, "Heart Groove Marketing Management".
In his 20's, Cartez joined the George Mason, also known as "G Mason" organization; being very active and proud to contribute to the initiative. Cartez loved to cook, always being known to hop on the grill, since the beginning of time. He used his skills to prepare meals for his family, friends, and eventually branched out his talents to the community. He sold turkey leg plates at Chief parades and ultimately gave food back to the community rather it was a hot dog or chicken wings. In the end Cartez transitioned to philanthropic work. Partnering with the Justice Center and joining the Soul Brothers Motorcycle Club, where he conducted fundraisers, cooked and hosted events for the community geared towards children.
Cartez is greeted in heaven by his father, Carlton Cook; grandmother, Athlene Canady-Garlington; grandfather, Elmo "Jack" Garlington; uncle, Elmo Garlington Jr.; aunt, Sharon Garlington; brothers: Maurice Clark and Marcus Clark.
Cartez leaves to cherish his loving memories: his children: Reggie Lytle, Cortez Garlington, Corte' Garlington, Tyler Garlington, Caleb Garlington, Courtanie Beasley and Cydney Garlington; his grandchildren: Carter, Carson, Cali, Karlo, Raighan, Arymee', Rylen and Raina, plus a grandchild on the way; his loving mother, Anita Garlington; his brothers and sisters: Carlton Garlington of Los Angeles, CA, Aaron Yates of Kansas City, MO, Elaurice Garlington of Kansas City, MO, Mary Cook of Atlanta, GA and Marvellae Valdaz of Kansas City, MO; several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving family and friends.
