Catherine A. Wright, also known as,” Queen B, a.k.a. Aunt Cat was born in Lyon, Mississippi on June 15, 1935 to Lonzo Adams and Nancy McCullum. Catherine received her early education in Lyon, Mississippi, and later moved with her grandparents to Sumner, Mississippi. She was brought up in church and accepted Christ at an early age. She met and married Willie Wright in 1951. They left Sumner and moved to Kansas City, Missouri for a better life.
To this union three sons were born, Stanley Adams Right Sr, Edmond George Wright, and Dwayne Adams Wright Sr. Catherine was a devoted wife of 66 years and a spirited mother. She truly loved her family. When her husband suffered a tragic accident and became a paraplegic, she refused to place him in a skilled nursing center. Kathrine became his caregiver and domestic engineer for over 30 years.
Catherine wore many hats. She was an in-home beautician. A collector, she enjoyed collecting items cleaning and storing them up to donate them to charity. Kathrine was well known in her neighborhood. She kept the neighborhood clean from litter and did not hesitate to stop and pray for anyone in need. Aunt Cat loved the Lord and witnessed about his goodness. She was a member of Open-Door Ministries, pastor by her nephew, Rupert James.
Surrounded by loved ones, God called Catherine Wright from labor to reward on December 4, 2023 at 3:15 PM at Armour Oaks Skilled Nursing Center. What a celebration! We will always remember her bashful smile and kindred heart.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her husband, Willie Wright, two sons, Stanley Adams Wright Sr., Edmond, George Wright, one grandson, Stanley, Adams, Wright, Junior, and Brother, Lonzo Adams Jr., three dear cousins Emma Jean Day, Elizabeth Henderson and Paula Williams.
