Mr. Cedric Dale Mack was born on April 25, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Grimme and Alice (Neal) Mack. He was the sixth child born from this union.
Dale grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was a lifelong resident. He attended CA Franklin Elementary and Westport High School and later he went on to earn his GED.
Dale loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Westminster Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.C. Wheeler.
In 1972, while riding his bike down 36th and Highland, Dale was hit by rocks being thrown by a young Delores Donnell. This innocent childhood interaction was rekindled in the 11th grade at Westport High School during their 3rd hour science class. These high school sweethearts were joined in marriage on May 23, 1982. To this union three children were born: two daughters, Tiffany and Ashley and one son, Dale. During their time apart, Dale had a second son, the baby of the bunch, Kendall.
Dale always respected the responsibility of hard work and the importance of family. At a very young age his dad taught him and his brothers various skills ranging from plumbing, carpentry, yard work, repairing cars and more. As a result of his dad’s teachings, he had an abundance of skill sets and there wasn't much he couldn’t do. One display of his many talents was a handcrafted, oversized barbecue grill he built for his mother. He and others were extremely proud of its craftmanship.
Dale’s first job was at Bob’s Auto Shop and he had many other jobs throughout the years. He found his professional love and passion for work at Ford Motor Company. While at Ford he mastered a variety of positions throughout the company and met many friends. Because of his personality, those work friends became his lifetime brothers and buddies.
Dale was a one of a kind mechanic! He was always on the go and he loved cars especially his "Stankin Lincoln". After retiring early from Ford, his passion for cars led him to entrepreneurship and opening his own mechanic shops, Mack’s Auto Shop & Mack’s Nifty Lube and Repair.
Dale had a love for life and all that it entailed! He enjoyed working on cars, hanging out with his brothers, fishing and of course riding his bike. He also loved to dance, always showing off his one signature move. His greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. He enjoyed spending time with his kids while teaching them the basics about cars, taking trips to water parks, going to drive-in movies and carnivals. To his grandkids he was affectionately know as “Big Daddy”, he loved taking them on adventures such as feeding the ducks, fishing and flying kites. He was also a master on the grill! At family functions, you could always find him standing over the grill adding his special sauce to the meats.
Dale was always dressed to impress! He loved his suits, hats, dress shoes and jewelry. He would always say "When you look good you feel good!" He referred to himself as an “OG with a Recipe” and “Dr. Mack”. Dale was a man of many words and knew how to use them to change the atmosphere of any room. He was a caring man and ALWAYS talked about his FAMILY. Dale loved hard! He was tough and definitely a fighter. When his full and vibrant life took an unexpected health turn in April 2022, he continued to love and live his life to the fullest. He didn't want to be a burden on anyone and continued to do things his way and on his own. Cedric Mack, age 63, entered into his final rest early Friday morning, April 14, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father: Grimme Mack; his wife: Delores Mack; his brothers: Johnny Mack, Garry Mack and Larry Cunningham; his niece: Shalonda Mack; his nephews: Larse Mack Jr. and Craig Mack II, all awaiting his arrival at Heaven’s gate.
