Chanelle Lashawn Hill-Ross

Chanelle LaShun Hill-Ross was born April 25, 1976, to the union of Billy G. Hill and Ruth “Rudy” A. Hill. She was affectionately known as “Ma” by her husband, “Snelly Bell” by her Auntie Ann and “Maw Maw” by her grandbabies, passed away on September 15, 2026, at University Hospital in Kansas City MO.

She was born and raised in Kansas City Mo and graduated from Southeast High School in 1994. Growing up she loved to do hair and would get you right with some braids. She attended House of Heavilin Beauty College but later decided to pursue a career in the medical field. She was passionate about her residents and was hopeful to start her own business caring for the elderly. She served the industry for over 25 years.

Chanelle married her high school sweetheart in 2000 and to that union 2 children were born, Cai’cha Ross and Cres'hun Ross. Hosting gatherings with her family and friends is what she most often did as she loved cooking and dancing. She had an outgoing personality and she gave everybody nicknames. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

Chanelle was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth A. Hill; and her mother-in-law, Gracie Ross.

She leaves to cherish her memories her father, Billy G. Hill; her husband, William L. Ross; two sisters: Shawanna Hill, Ebony Hayes (Micah Sr.); one brother, William Hill, five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-laws; two daughters: Cai’cha Ross, and Cre'shun Ross-Thomas (Leonard); four granddaughters: Lei’lani Hill-Ross, Amadi Nugent, Aiyai Thomas, and Mahogani Ross; 5 grandsons: Levi Thomas, Cartier Ross, Legacy Thomas, Romeo Ross and Legend Thomas; special acknowledgement to Natisha Brooks, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
