Charlene Winfrey

Charlene Winfrey was born August 18, 1944, to Leola Cooper in Kansas City, Missouri. She married James Winfrey in 1959. To this union four children were born.

Charlene departed this life on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her mother Leola Cooper and her sister Patricia Franklin.

Charlene was educated by the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District and attended Central High School. She was employed at GEHA for 20 years until she retired.

Charlene accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of the St. James United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, until her health failed.

Charlene enjoyed listening to jazz music and gardening her lovely flowers. She had a special love for all four of her children.

Charlene leaves to cherish her memory; three daughters, Beverly McGary(Robert), Shonette Winfrey and Vertice Winfrey. One son; Sidney Winfrey. Brother; Larry Cooper. Grandchildren; Jenise, Taray, Shantell, Jamala, Josh and Troy. Great Grandchildren; Kyree, Armonie and Mariah. Great-Great Grandchild Nyree. A special cousin Eric Merritt and a host of other family members.
