Charles Reed Davis, 87, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born October 10, 1933, in Morrilton, Arkansas, to Lavell Davis, Sr. and Lovie Abraham Davis. He grew up in Morrilton, Arkansas where he attained and eighth grade education.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was currently serving as a Deacon of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, where he joined on August 22, 1976, and served faithfully for 45 years. Deacon Charles Davis served on the Deacon Board and was assigned as the head Deacon overseeing the Ladies Chorus. He sincerely loved the Prince of Peace Mother’s Board and never forgot to purchase gifts honoring them on Mother’s Day. His favorite song was “God Has Smiled on Me”. Deacon Charles Davis faithfully attended prayer meetings and Sunday School, he genuinely loved talking about the Goodness of the Lord. There was never a task too small or too big for Deacon Charles Davis, in addition to serving God, he took pride in the upkeep of God’s place of worship where he manicured the Church lawns and maintained the grounds as needed.
Charles was a hard worker; he was employed with the Pisciotta Fruit and Vegetable Company for 38 years, where he worked as a Truck Driver and Fruit and Vegetable Displayer.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Lavell Davis, Sr., and Lovie Abraham Davis; three brothers, Lavell Davis, Jr., William Henry Davis, and Alphonso Strickland; three sisters, Mary Louise Davis, Margaret H. Daniels, and Katie Mae McClinton; daughter, Glenda Faye Williams and his first wife, Arthur Mae Davis.
Charles is survived by his loving ex-wife: Pamela C. Davis-Jones of Red Oak, Texas; children: Walter Lee Davis of Bakersfield, California; two stepchildren: Freddie B. Asberry, Jr. (Camica) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Priscilla Rayson (Garfield) of Chula Vista, California.
He leaves to cherish his memory 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
