Charles E. Dottrey, 75, passed away on January 29, 2026, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He was born on July 3, 1950, in Kansas City, MO to Bernice Dottrey and Charles E. Dottrey Sr. in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO. He began to work for General Motors as a welder until he retired after 31 years. "Dott's" hobbies were working on cars, playing dominos, watching Monster Truck racing and old westerns. He was also one of the founding leaders of the Kaw Boys Motor Cycle club in 1978 as motorcycle riding was his favorite pastime. He also loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Charles was a faithful and devoted member at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He served as a deacon, usher and lastly as church Chairman from 2020 until 2025 when his health began to fail. He served under the leadership of Pastor Donald Ford Sr.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Alberta Hayes and grandfather Harold Baily and one sister Gloria Dottrey.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories his mother Bernice Dottrey, wife Sara Dottrey: Daughters Tara Derico, Don'ara Boles and Ciara Boles
and godson LaMarr Lewis (Ericka) all of Kansas City. Siblings Clarence Dottrey (Mona) of Raytown, MO; Raymond Blocker of Kansas City, MO; Sandra Dottrey of Kansas City, MO; Belain Dottery (Merrick) of Mississippi; Ms. Tracy Kelly-McFolling of Texas and Trisha Dottery Newberry in Nevada; grandsons Chance Boles, Lamar Derico III, Denzel Derico and Cer Carson Derico; best friends Kermit "Buddy" Strickland(Ruth) of Arizona; Elijah Hopkins(Pam) of Georgia,,Chester Thomas(Mary) of Kansas City, Mo and Norzel Ross of Texas; his beloved dog Hannah Dottrey and a host of family and friends.
