Charles E Jones, Sr.

Charles Edward Jones, affectionately called (CL) was born in Camden, Arkansas on July 24, 1937, to father, Coy Lee Jones and mother, Queen Ester Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son, Charles Edward Jones Jr, brother Clyde Jones, sisters, Shirley Bradford, Henrietta Bogan and nephew, Jason Holly.

Charles, accepted Christ in 1965. In 1987, he united with Emmanuel Baptist Church under Bishop W.H. White, Sr. He was a faithful member until his health issues began.

Charles was employed by Certain Teed Roofing, Owen Corning Roofing and joined Local 264 until he retired in 1999.

Charles was a man who took care of Family. He and his wife Elwanda opened their home to many; raising nieces and nephews. He loved working on cars, mowing neighbor’s lawns, and the best time of the day was going to the TV shop, where many of his friends played dominos, and repaired lawn mowers. He always had a great time at the TV shop, full of stories and laughter.

On June 11, 1966, Charles united in marriage to Elwanda Richardson, and to that union were born Mark Anthony and Coy Lee Jones. In prior marriages, sons Charles Edward Jones Jr. and Charles Rickey Jones were born.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Elwanda Jones, children, Charles Rickey Jones (Schaumetta), Mark Anthony Jones Sr (Jamilah), Coy Lee Jones Sr (Trina), siblings Carolyn Green, Doris Sander, Melva Butt (Pete), Cousin Marvin Whitaker (Bessie), longtime friend Andrew Taylor, twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
