Charlie Mae Falls

June 26, 1938 — March 30, 2019

Listen to Obituary

Charlie Mae Falls was a giver of care, kindness, and honesty to all. If you were family, you knew it even if you weren't born into it. If you came over hungry, she would say, “It's in the fridge help ya-self.” She made it a point to be there for just about everyone that asked. Don't think you wouldn't leave without a little bit of truth no matter if you asked for it. Her greatest quality was her love. Everyone she met would eventually get to experience her love and that was just her. On March 30, 2019 she would take her last breath where she could finally rest peacefully.

Born June 26, 1938 to Celia & Robert Brooks Sr. in Clarksdale, Mississippi she was one of Eight, her siblings included: Clara Mae Streeter, Robert Brooks Jr., Annie Mae Barnes, Louis “Peter” Brooks, Celia Mae Jordan, Essie B. Walker and Louise Brooks. With her formal education ending at the 8th grade she displayed an immense ability to navigate the world and teach others. She would tell you she had to pick cotton and sho’ didn’t like it. She would later express to a class of college students that she was sheltered from most of the racism of that time as they were friends and played with “White’s” it was the normal for that area. She was beyond fluent in mathematics especially when it came to money in which she instilled that into her children.

She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1955 where she met and married Willie D. Hardmon in 1956. From that Union they would produce the Living Legend Dr. Kevin Brian Hardmon. After resolving that union, she met & married Lee Manuel Falls in 1960, resulting in the birth of the illustrious Glenda Eugenia Falls - Fuller. She would also gain Step-Daughters Lynda Jones & Jacqualine Lucas. She had a host of adopted children. She had 3 biological grandchildren; the fabulous Danielle Hardmon, the marvelous Blair Mason, and her golden boy Jorge Fuller & 3 step grands Dometrius “Nene” Smith, Georgetta “Snookie” Roberson, and Chris Brown. She was privileged to be present for a host of Great & Great Great Grandchildren.

During her lifetime she would work for many grocery stores throughout the Kansas City area and drove school buses. She was a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, Meat Cutters Union, and the 3600 Askew Block Club. She was known as an avid fisherman (not only just fish). There are no strangers in her life, at least not for long. She was known as Honey Bunch, Red, Auntee, Granny, and Momma.

Preceding her in death: Celia & Robert Brooks, Sr., Clara, Robert Jr., Louis, Nieces and Nephews and two unborn children, Ex-Husband Willie D. Hardmon, and Husband Lee Manuel Falls. She will be fondly remembered and missed by members of Metropolitan, staff at the boats & banks, neighbors & members of the 3600 Askew Block Club, host of Nieces & Nephews, Siblings, Adopted Children, Great & Great Great Grandchildren, Grandchildren, Step Children, and Children.

She lived a life filled with people and cherished every moment as she loved the gatherings and talks in the Den. Even while she was ill, she loved and wants it to continue.
