Mr. Charlie Thornton Jr was born September 25, 1941 to the union of Charlie Thornton Sr and Clarice Soney in Patmas, Arkansas

As a young child he and his family relocated to Kansas City. He was educated in the Kansas City Missouri school district and graduated as a proud Central Eagle.

Charlie always subscribed to the philosophy of “Hard work Never Hurt Anyone” so his career life led him to Ford Motor Company for over 30years and later retired and then went on to spend another 10 years at Vancom Bus as a school bus driver.

He accepted Christ at an early age and have always enjoyed worshiping in the Baptist faith.

On June 11, 1998 he married Ms. Diane Lorraine Franklin and the joining of these two soulmates into holy matrimony developed “The Thornton Bunch”; Pam, Tracy, Charles, Sherri, Terri, George, Michelle, John, Ronnie, Quantellia, DeAndre and David. Charles and Diane’s love for each other grew their hearts broad enough to love each other’s children as their very own in every generation.

Charlie loved to travel and in doing so he went to most of the United States and London and Paris.

He was preceded in death by both parents, One brother Claude Thornton, One sister Charline Taylor, One daughter Tracy Thornton, One granddaughter Shante Franklin, One great granddaughter Maurianna Ashley.
