Listen to Obituary

Ms. Christina Cunningham, always called “Chrissy,” was born in Denver Colorado at 10:00pm, at St Joseph Hospital on April 28, 1993. Chrissy was sent home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2017 at North Kansas City Hospital at 10:00pm. Chrissy’s parents Kevin and Serese Brown loved her very much. She was brought up in a Christian home. Chrissy lived in Kansas City, Kansas with her beloved dog, ”Smoky.” Although she had no children, Smokey was her child because that’s how she treated him. She worked for Country Inn Suites as a Guest Services Representative at the time of her passing. Chrissy attended various schools in Leavenworth and Bonner Springs, Kansas. We eventually moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she attended Washington High School, and she graduated at the top of her class with a 3.9 GPA. Chrissy enjoyed playing Soccer and Volleyball, which she did all four years she attended Washington High School. Her largest achievement was being a part of the R.O.T.C program, where she started out as a Private and was promoted to Commander of the Cadets program in her Senior year. This is the most distinguished honor you can achieve in R.O.T.C at Washington High School. Chrissy was a very private person, but when it came to her academics, she would move out of her reserved demeanor. Chrissy attended Donnelly College where she was working to receive an Associates of Science because she loved science, math, and chemistry. Chrissy was to join the Armed Services in 2011, but she chose to try the Community College first. Chrissy is preceded in death by her grandfather; Wilbert E. Ruthledge, and her grandmother; Christine Ruthledge. Chrissy leaves to cherish her memories, her parents; Kevin and Serese Brown, her sister; Alycia Cunningham (Deon Williams), her two nephews; Russell Powell III, and Christopher Williams, her grandmother; Shirley McCord, her aunts and uncles; Sharron Dirks (Carl Dirks), Wanona Brown, Brent Brown, Wallace Brown (Tierney Russell-Brown), Monique Sharp (Bryson Sharp), and Myrtle Marie Clark; her god mother; Joyce Powell; and a special cousin; Aleea, along with a host of all other family and friends. We would like to send a special thanks to Mt Olive Baptist Church, Chrissy’s church. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to show our family love at this time of loss. We give thanks to the Lord because Chrissy is with Him now. No more pain and tears of sorrow upon this earth.
