Christopher Alan Harris Sr. was born November 9, 1963, to the union of Leon Harris, Jr. and Lonnie B. (King) Harris.
Chris accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church.
He graduated from Southeast High School, Kansas City, Missouri in 1982. After High School, Chris went to work for Research Medical Center and later to the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) for 22 years where he was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATA 1287). He retired June 1, 2023.
Chris found the love of his life, Kecia Mills, in 1986 at Research Medical Center. They were united in marriage May 16, 1987, where their blended families became one. Beside his wonderful wife, his greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and family. Chris enjoyed traveling, barbecuing, fishing, and exploring the taste of nice cigars paired with fine Cognac. He also enjoyed manicuring his yard, a good game of dominoes, watching basketball, football, and searching for Dobbs and Stetson hats. He found great pleasure in helping others and never met a stranger. Anyone who had the opportunity to be loved by Chris, knew they were truly loved.
He departed this life on Monday March 4, 2024, at the age of 60. His parents, Leon “Rip” Harris Jr. and Lonnie B. Spearman; stepfather, Mancy Spearman; two brothers, Leon Harris III and David Spearman; three sisters, Sharon Harris, Rise Harris, and Sheila Harris; his son Christopher Alan Harris Jr., all preceded him in death.
Chris will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He leaves to cherish his beautiful wife Kecia Mills-Harris; son Terrell Mills Sr. (Jennifer); his daughters Kia Harris and Shayla Mills (Nate), all of Kansas City, Missouri. Grandmother, Helene Owens; four sisters Wilma Harris, Margaret Spearman, Earline Walker, and Etheline Hill; two brothers, Randy Spearman, Derrick Spearman; grandchildren, Elle Barron, Navia Harris, Eyani Mills, Terrell Mills Jr., and Carson Taylor; good friend, John Mosley (Mariah); a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
