Clarence William Cobbins was born August 11, 1953, in Lexington, Mississippi to the late John Cobbins and Willie B. Sims-Cobbins. He was the youngest of 18 children.

He met Gwendolyn Dory-Cobbins in Youngstown, Ohio on November 17, 1992, and they later married on August 29, 1998, in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was Baptized at Newport Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi at the age of nine. On February 24, 2002, he became a member of St. James United Methodist Church under the leadership of Emanuel Cleaver II now St. James Church under the leadership of Emanuel Cleaver III.

He graduated in 1971 from Lexington Attendance Center and at the age of 18 followed his older brothers and sister to Kansas City, Missouri.

On February 18, 1976, he started his employment at General Motors Leeds Assembly Plant in Kansas City, MO. After Leeds closed he was relocated in 1991 to Lordstown Assembly Plant in Youngstown, Ohio, and in 1994 transferred to Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. After 45 years and 9 months on November 1, 2021, he retired. In those 45 years, he rarely ever missed a day of work and the only time he was late (which you could count on one hand) was because of a traffic backup. He was a proud union worker, and he lived and loved the "UAW". He didn't mince words with anyone and if you met him, you liked him.

He was very athletic. He loved working out at the gym, playing racquetball every Saturday morning for over 30 years, and jogging every morning. He considered himself the King of Dominoes and would stop every day on his way to work at Palestine Senior Citizen Activity Center to play a few rounds. He also played every Wednesday at his UAW Union Hall with fellow retirees and co-workers. Though he would never admit it, he was a sore loser. He loved to travel and because of his adventurous nature we will have many wonderful memories.

Clarence was proceeded in death by both parents, 13 brothers, 3 sisters and his daughter Kameron C. Cobbins (July 10, 1981 - August 13, 2022).

Clarence leaves to cherish in his memory: His loving wife of 27 years (together 33 years) Gwendolyn, one surviving daughter Taylor Cobbins Daryl); four granddaughters: Kennadi Cobbins-Fowler, Tysynne Brown (Anthony), Tionne Cobbins, and Tailynn Cobbins; one great grandson Kaden Antwine, one sister Rosezina Lee, special nephew Derek Dory, spiritual daughter Shawana Woods, several sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
